Midcentury Bauhaus Tubular writing desk by Rudolf Vichr, 1940s, Czechoslovakia
This tubular writing desk was designed by Rudolf Vichr in the 1940s and manufactured in the 1950s by Kovona. The design reflects mid-century modern principles, combining a functional layout with a lightweight tubular steel construction characteristic of the period.
The desk is made of chrome-plated tubular steel with slatted veneer plywood panels, and the drawer body is constructed from solid spruce. The piece has undergone professional restoration: the original wood has been cleaned and finished with high-gloss polyurethane, and the original chrome elements have been polished.
The desk is offered in excellent condition after restoration, retaining its original materials and proportions while presenting a clean and refined appearance. It is suitable for everyday use as well as for inclusion in a curated vintage or design-focused interior.
