Rare Central European Functionalist Seating Group, circa 1920s
A rare and visually striking Central European seating group dating from the 1920s, originally conceived for institutional or public interiors such as sanatorium lounges, waiting rooms, or spa facilities.
The set consists of a semi-circular bench, two matching armchairs, and a central round table, all executed in turned wood with a restrained functionalist vocabulary. The rhythmic vertical spindles, rounded backrests, and elevated construction reflect early modernist concerns with hygiene, durability, and spatial efficiency—hallmarks of post-Secession design in Central Europe.
The integrated castors underline the original practical intent of the ensemble, allowing for easy reconfiguration within communal interiors.
